Lassi Luoma , Research and Concept Engineer
Lassi has worked as a product developer in heavy machinery design, where he was responsible for the design of mobile mining and contracting machines as well as the execution of special projects all the way to field deployment. Over the years, he has brought numerous innovative concepts from ideas to production, enhancing both safety and productivity in the mining industry.
At MexLink, Lassi combines his extensive hands-on experience with a research-driven approach: he explores new technologies, refines them into feasible solutions, and ensures that our customers gain a competitive edge in real-world applications.
Examples of his intellectual capital:
· Development of new technology concepts
Capability to drive multi-technology solutions from specification to product
· Global expertise in steel structures
Served as an expert member in Sandvik’s global “Steel Structures” category for mobile mining machines, responsible for harmonizing standards and sharing best practices across geographical boundaries.
· Responsibility for complex steel structure design
Led and designed critical frame solutions and load-bearing structures for machines operating under extreme dynamic stress and corrosive environments.
· From concept up to commercialized product
Export & scaling experience: multiple concepts developed from idea to prototype, testing, and final production — proven to shorten project time-to-market and improve safety metrics.
· Cross-disciplinary collaboration
A bridge-builder between mechanical design, welding technology, FEM analysis, and manufacturing methods, enabling projects to meet both strength requirements and cost optimization.
